LED luminaires use light-emitting diode (LED) as a light source, they are used for household, industrial and street lighting. LED is one of the most environmentally friendly light sources. The principle of the glow of LEDs allows the use of safe components in the production and operation of the luminaires themselves. LED luminaires do not use substances containing mercury, so they do not pose a danger in case of failure or damage to the bulb. For lighting, white LEDs of various types are often used in lamps. For decorative purposes, lamps are used either with colored LEDs (including RGB), or with white LEDs and colored bulbs.
The LED luminaire is an independent device. The luminaire body is most often unique, specially designed for an LED light source. Structurally, such a luminaire consists of a base, a metal case that simultaneously serves as a radiator, a board with LEDs, an electronic driver (power converter) and a translucent plastic hemisphere. LED light sources are mainly used for directional or local lighting due to the nature of the semiconductor emitter, to shine predominantly in one direction.
